Meet Me in the Middle Chapter 1: Stoking the Fires Within

Chapter one had some really interesting ideas for middle school teachers. The author made some great points when he brought up how teachers and members of the community were making snide comments about teaching. Teaching is not the cakewalk that everyone assumes it is. I also thought the part about watching what you say was important because I have seen words raise people up and also tear people down. The one comment I would be careful to heed was the comment about letting students touch him. I know that he meant it only in a responsible and respectful way, but it can be dangerous to do this.
